Dr. Alter completed his undergraduate education at George Washington University in 1975. In 1980 he received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. Dr. Alter currently is a member of the following professional societies: American Medical Association, a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Med Chi, and the Montgomery County Medical Society. Dr. Alter is fluent in Hebrew. He is married and has two children.
